Morning Vibes

I think I'm a pretty relatable person for the most part. I try and understand the viewpoints of others and put myself in their shoes. I always look for common ground. But there's one thing I will never be able to understand... someone who skips breakfast!! This just baffles me! Are you a breakfast skipper? How do you do it? Skipping breakfast for me would absolutely set my day up to fail. Breakfast is as essential to my mornings as my time with Jesus. Skipping breakfast is hard on my body. I can't think. I can't function. Less energy. Hangry attitude.

Science agrees that breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. Here are some of the adverse effects of skipping breakfast :

*Blood sugar levels drop

*Stress hormone levels increase

*Weight gain

*Increased risk of heart disease

Many who skip breakfast simply don't feel hungry in the mornings. Others are way too busy in the a.m, juggling kids and trying to get out the door(I feel you, sisters!). Enter: the protein shake. Easy to consume for even the most un-hungry of bellies, and can quickly be mixed up and taken on the go. Although I love my warm and savory egg dishes in the morning, I don't always have time for that. This is my go-to shake for busy mornings. This shake fuels the body with everything it needs for a successful start to the day. Every ingredient serves a purpose!

Almond milk : This is the base for my shake. My youngest can't have dairy so we only buy almond milk. We like vanilla flavored and unsweetened.

Bananas : Bananas for fiber and potassium.

Spinach : A handful of spinach for calcium, fiber, folate, and vitamin c.

Protein Powder : These can vary..we use a plant-based protein called Orgain. We like the chocolate flavored.

Peanut Butter : Pb for extra protein and yum factor!

Grass-fed Collagen Peptides : Have you heard about the benefits of collagen? It's amazing! Helps build muscle and burn fat, eases joint pain, improves skin elasticity, and improves digestive health.

Chia seeds : Rich in antioxidants, omega 3's and fiber.

Sodium ascorbate : Vitamin C powder. Essential vitamin for the immune system.

This shake is great for the whole family. Toddler and picky teenager approved! Do you have any favorite breakfast shakes? Share your recipes in the comment section!

Happy breakfast-ing!
